FIRST EVER NATIONAL GRAND SLAM
Tucson, AZ November 1, 2003
In the late morning at Tucson's historic Three Points Rifle Silhouette Range, history was made by formidable, hard holding, Ron Calderone. As the booming report of his old and hard run Browning BPCR .45-70 rolled across the desert, a steel turkey spun off its' stand, the tenth in a row...
Back on Feb. 3, 2001, at his home range at Three Points, Ron blazed an historic (and now somewhat legendary) trail in NRA BPCS history by downing 10 chickens in a row. This difficult feat has, so far, not been repeated. For the past 18 months, though ruthlessly pursued, (and bombarded by a substantial weight in cast bullets), ten turkeys have eluded Ron's best efforts. Yesterday, (at the time of this writing), his dogged and focused efforts were rewarded, and we can only now wonder what his next achievement in marksmanship will be. This dedicated Master Class competitor now takes a hard earned place in American shooting sports history, first among the best, and first to garner in NRA sanctioned black powder cartridge rifle competition, the GRAND SLAM.
Congratulations Ron, you worked and studied hard to do this.!
