The Tucson Rifle Club supports the carriage and use of firearms for any lawful purpose.
The proposed regulation change should restore the rights of law abiding citizens and gun owners. Law-abiding gun owners, once again would be permitted to transport and carry firearms for all lawful purposes on most Department of Interior lands, just as they do now on United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands.
This change in the Code of Federal Regulations should provide uniformity across all federal lands, making them consistent with the laws and regulations of the States, that the Department of Interior lands are located in.
Current regulations fail to account for the significant change in state laws since 1984. These Federal regulations that were established in the early 1980's should recognize the change in state laws and follow their lead.
