Former TRC Board Member Robert W. Ross Dies

Robert W. Ross 58, lost his valiant battle with cancer and passed away early in the morning Friday, August 15, 2008. Bob_Ross.jpgRobert, or Bob to almost all who knew him, was born in Tucson in 1950, and had lived here his entire life. Bob graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1968, after which he served in the United States Marine Corp from 1969-1973, attaining the rank of sergeant. In 1979 Bob began working for Tucson Newspapers in the maintenance department as an electrician. He continued to work there for 29 years, after taking over as manager of maintenance department in 1985. Bob was a loving and loyal husband, father, brother and friend to many. He loved, cared for and gave refuge to many cats. He was an avid supporter of the Sunnyside Blue Devils football program, and continued to follow the team even long after his youngest son graduated. Bob enjoyed all forms of shooting sports. He was a Life member of the NRA (endowment), as well as the Single Action Shooting Society member, in which he was known as 'Bob Two Toes' or 'Brass Buzzard'. He also enjoyed working on all forms of vehicles, but was particularly a Ford Mustang enthusiast. During his time with us, Bob has touched many lives, and all who had the fortune of crossing paths with him will greatly feel his loss. Bob is preceded in death by son Kenneth Ross; mother Billie Elaine Bennett; stepfather C.F. Bennett; father George Ross; stepmother Virginia Ross; nephew Paul Hernandez; sister Nancy Bell. He is survived by wife, Kathy; sons, Sean and David; grandson, Connor; granddaughters, Kendra and Deven; sisters, Kathy (Joe) Hernandez, Deanna (Frank) Cermak; brothers, Walt Ross, Clay Ross, Kenneth Michael Sanford, Marine Corp brother Mike Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews plus many members of his extended family in PA and MI along with our amazing Cowboy family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday August 30, 2008 10:00 A.M. at South Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ.
