Description:

NRA Smallbore Prone & Rimfire Sporter Matches.

Course of fire attachment for 22 prone and rimfire sporter matches:

The Prone match consists of four individual matches:

50 yard match(two A-23 targets fired at 50 yards),

100 yard match(two A-25 targets fired at 100 yards), and Dewar match(one A-25 target fired at 100 yards and one A-23 target fired at 50 yards) and the aggregate of the three.

There are no awards. Setup starts at 7:30 AM and first rounds down range at 8 AM.

You may fire from the prone position with a sling, F class or bench rest.

There will be a Rimfire sporter match after the 22 prone match if there are three or more people (including myself) who want to shoot it.

There is a five minute sight-in period before shooting for record starts.

The Sporter match consists of: 10 shots slow fire prone in 10 minutes, two 5 shot strings of rapid fire prone each string in 30 seconds, 10 shots slow fire siting or kneeling in 10 minutes and then two 5 shot strings rapid sitting or kneeling in 30 seconds each. (all of the above at 50 yards)

At 25 yards, 10 shots standing slow fire in 10 minutes and finish off with two 5 shot strings rapid fire standing in 30 seconds each.

The 22 prone match usually ends at about 11 AM.

The sporter match will begin as soon after the 22 prone match as we can set up. The sporter match takes less than 2 hours.

COURSE OF FIRE

The following courses and types of fire are most commonly found in NRA Sanctioned Rifle Silhouette competition, fired on standard targets described in Section 4. See Section 8 for time allowances and Rule l7.5 for courses of fire for which National Records are recognized.

Smallbore Rifle Competition

A sanctioned match consists of 40, 60, 80 or 120 rounds fired in the standing position on one-fifth size standard High Power Rifle Silhouette targets as follows:

(a) Ten Gallina (chicken) targets at 40 meters (or yards).

(b) Ten Javelina (pig) targets at 60 meters (or yards).

(c) Ten Guajalote (turkey) targets at 77 meters (or yards).

(d) Ten Borrego (ram) targets at 100 meters (or yards).

Ammunition

Smallbore ammunition shall be factory loaded .22 caliber short, long or long rifle rimfire cartridges. Hot loads, such as “stingers,” are not permitted.
